We may not bow down to them physically, but we can emotionally pay homage to earthly things over God. We worship our money, recreation, jobs, homes, and other material things. It’s tempting for every person to worship someone or something other than the Lord. “Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” ( Luke 4:8). As a result, we are careful to respond to the Lord in peace during times of worship so that all attention is directed toward Him and not ourselves. There’s a spiritual awareness of God’s presence in those who’ve accepted Jesus Christ as Lord. The Lord is holy, majestic, and powerful-we worship Him in the manner that He is worthy. Worshipping God is not to be taken lightly or presumptuously. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire” ( Hebrews 12:28). Worship with Reverence and Awe - Hebrews 12:28 Our continual sacrifice is an offering of worship to Him out of gratefulness for the things He has done. We are taking up our cross daily and trusting in the Lord to lead us in the right direction. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship” ( Romans 12:1).Īs believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we sacrifice our lives daily for His purposes and plans, not our selfish motives. When we are honest with the Lord to confess our sins, we are purified to worship Him in Spirit and truth. God accepts true worship from those who are a part of the body of Christ and live truthful lives. Many people pretend to worship God however, the Lord sees their hearts and minds. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” ( John 4:23-24). “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. Worship in Spirit and Truth - John 4:23-24 The words of hymns and spiritual songs resonate with our inner spirits, the glory of God in worship. There’s incredible beauty and magnificence when the body of Christ gathers with one heart and mind to sing worship songs to the Lord. In addition to musical instruments, we can worship God with songs from our hearts. “Worship the Lord with gladness come before him with joyful songs” ( Psalm 100:2). Those who are accustomed to worshipping God in their home have an automatic response to His presence in the gathering with other believers. Kneeling on the ground, laying out full posture, bowing the head, or standing with hands in the air are all examples of a physical response to worshipping God. “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker” ( Psalm 95:6).Įvery person who came into the presence of God was compelled to hit the ground with bowed heads. The music can be varied based on preferences, cultures, or availability. The energy, intensity, and purity of musical instruments bring a greater awareness of the worship in the assembly of believers. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed” ( 2 Chronicles 29:28). “The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the musicians played and the trumpets sounded. We give sacrificially, generously, and consistently to ascribe value to who God is in our lives. Worshipping God by giving our money reveals our heart’s desires. When we bring our offerings to God, it is a form of worship.
